PTSD and Trauma Therapy in Tinley Park

Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is an anxiety disorder triggered by experiencing or witnessing a traumatic event. While it is natural to feel upset after a trauma, PTSD occurs when those feelings do not fade over time. If your symptoms persist for more than a month and significantly impact your daily life, it may be time to seek professional trauma therapy.

Common Symptoms of PTSD

PTSD symptoms can be overwhelming and unpredictable. Our clinical team at Mind and Body Wellness is trained to help you navigate:

  • Re-experiencing the Trauma: Frequent flashbacks, intrusive memories, or vivid nightmares that make you feel as though the event is happening again.
  • Avoidance Behaviors: Consciously or unconsciously avoiding people, places, or conversations that remind you of the traumatic event.
  • Negative Changes in Mood or Memory: Significant memory gaps regarding the event, feeling emotionally numb, or struggling with persistent shame or guilt.
  • Hypervigilance and Irritability: Constantly feeling "on edge" or tense, experiencing difficulty sleeping, and having sudden outbursts of anger or irritability.

A Path Toward Healing and Recovery

At Mind and Body Wellness, we provide a safe, supportive environment for PTSD treatment in the South Suburbs. We utilize a combination of psychotherapy including CBT and DBT-informed care and medication management to help you process your experiences and reduce physical symptoms of anxiety.

Our goal is to help you move from a state of "survival" to one of "recovery."
